Volunteers

For the festival to work we need the volunteers!
When you participate as a volunteer on the festival, you will of course get free entrance to the festival friday and saturday. There will also be a small catering with sandwiches, coffe etcetera on the festival that the volunteers can access. You work 8 hour total for the festival, before/during or after the actual festival.

Meeting
We will have a meeting if you are interested in being a volunteer, it takes place at Umeå Folkets Hus in the center of Umeå City on wednesday the 5th of february, 19.00 sharp! On his meeting we will tell you a bit more about the festival and what it means to be a volunteer. On this meeting you can sign up as a volunteer directly! If you are not able to participate this evening, you can sign up by sending an email to Linnea Nilsson voluntar@umeafolkmusik.se

Meeting of safety
On thursday the 20th of february at 17.30 in the evening we will be going through som important safety issues in the Folkets Hus, and it is of course very important that you as a volunteer can participate. You wil also get your band to get entrance to the festival, you name sign and a festival t-shirt! We will have som coffe and snacks together and after the meeting you can visit a jazz concert in the Studio (located in the Folkets Hus) at 19.00 (subject to space).

Groups for volunteers
We have divided the work of the volunteers in smaller groups with different orientation. Every group has one person responsible and in charge of you schedule and tasks. Below you can read a short description for different groups.

The decoration group

Here you are working to prepare all the stages of the festival to make them look inviting and inspiring!

The stagehosts

You will welcome the artists, making sure all is in order in the room and on the stage, seeing to that there is water and/or towels for the artist on stage and in some cases you will make a small introduction of the artist before concert.

The Backstage group

You will assist in the dressing rooms, refilling water and clean them, keeping good order for the artists!

The marketing group

To promote the festival, we have already begun our work. However the last weeks before the festival we work extra hard to advertice Umefolk with posters, adds, flyers, radio, conserts, balloons - bring your ideas!

The group for public entrence

If you work in the festival entrance you will controll ticets during the festival and help organize a smooth passage. You will be the first impression on the festival for the Umefolk publicum. 

The Mass accomodation group

The mass accomodation will be in a school and in this group you are responsible for preparing the rooms by moving tables, chairs etcetera. Sometimes you need to help people find their way, and make small check ups on the accomodation.

The festival office

This office is the brain of the festival and if you work here you will mainly give visitors awnsers on their questions and  sell CD's for the festivals artists.

The artist office

This office are in controll of information and entrance for the artists.

The Catering group

Here you look to that there is always something to eat and drink for the artists and the ret of the volunteers.

The group of transportation 

You will drive artists between th festival, hotels, the airport, busstation etcetera. If you have your own car it is a plus! Umefolk will be renting some cars for the group to use.

The group for Workshops and courses

The festivals co-worker and partner Bilda will administrate this group. Some help might be needed during the weekend with arrange the venue and greet people welcome.

The Backline group

This group helps with transportation and carrying of instruments and audio equipment back and forth to the festival and between the stages on the festival. 

The after-festival-party group

This group organizes the big party that happens after the festival is over saturday night! You also clean after that party and also check around at Folkets Hus so that everything looks ok when we leave.
